Accreditation
Maintaining a High Level of Service & Professional Excellence
The Beaverton Police Department (BPD) is accredited through the Oregon Accreditation Alliance (OAA). The department has successfully maintained its accredited status through the OAA since 2005, which requires an on-site assessment/audit every three years.
The BPD has been accredited since 1995. Prior to 2005, the BPD was the first agency in Oregon to be accredited through the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, the regional accrediting agency at the time.
Accreditation establishes “best practice” standards that are verified on an international scale, measurable, and verified by an independent body for compliance. OAA’s 101 accreditation standards address life, health, safety, and high liability exposures. Law enforcement agencies must demonstrate through written policies and operational examples they consistently meet OAA standards to achieve and maintain their accredited status.
