Special Enforcement Unit
The Beaverton Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) identifies and proactively investigates perpetrators of street level identity theft and fraud based crimes, assists in community education, and liaisons with the interagency fraud and narcotics task forces.
This innovative team has made a significant impact on street level crime. The team investigates and provides resources to “lower level” cases involving less than $5,000. ID theft and fraud cases that received limited attention prior to the formation of this team, now have greater focus. In addition, the SEU also works collaboratively with the Fraud Identity Theft Enforcement (FITE) team in sharing suspect information and building cases for the district attorney. The SEU has demonstrated great success and the Department is developing plans to expand the program.
