Evidence Division
The Evidence Division is comprised of two property specialists and one manager. The division is responsible for the handling, storage, safe keeping, and disposal of the evidence and property confiscated by officers.
Property specialists are required to ensure federal, state, and local laws and ordinances are met related to seizures, forfeitures, prisoner property, and lost or found property. Additionally, they lend support to officers with search warrants and process large volumes of evidence. Extensive inventories are conducted on all narcotics, weapons, and currency, which are categorized as high-risk items.
Property specialists are responsible for submitting DNA, narcotics, and fingerprints evidence to the Oregon State crime labs for identification purposes.
