Traffic Program
The Traffic Safety Team is responsible for identifying and targeting problem locations for traffic enforcement as well as investigating injury accidents. Team members use the following means to help resolve traffic issues:
- Speed Mitigation Programs (SMART trailers).
- Participation in interagency saturation patrols.
- Highly visible patrol cars.
- Photo radar for purposes of enforcing speed limits in residential and school zones.
- Citizen radar, whereby citizens may check out police radar units to monitor the speeds of vehicles (see Citizen Speed Monitoring).
- Photo red light for purposes of reducing accidents resulting from signal light violations.
