David G. Bishop

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Beaverton Police Department Web site. It is my hope that you will find this site to be a valuable resource in your search for information about the department, and that you will discover ways in which you can join in partnership with police to fight crime in the community.

The Beaverton Police Department is composed of 159 sworn and civilian men and women who proudly serve the citizens of Beaverton. They work 24 hours per day to protect lives and property within a community that spans approximately 19 square miles and is home to more than 84,000 people.

Members of the agency are committed to providing quality customer service through a community oriented policing and problem solving philosophy. Within this philosophy, department members work in partnership with citizens to identify the root causes of crime, disorder, and fear of crime for purposes of making long-term improvements in the safety and quality of life within Beaverton. This philosophy is reflected in the agency's mission and vision statements, and is characterized by the department goals as outlined in the agency's Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Strategic Implementation Plan.

To ensure service levels and modes of operation meet the highest standards within the industry, the Beaverton Police department sought and achieved accreditation in 1995, and has since maintained this status. I encourage you to view the portion of our Web site devoted to accreditation to see the benefits it provides you, as a citizen. I also hope you will take the opportunity to view the aforementioned statements and documents within our site, as each serves to guide the efforts of agency members.

You will find as you look through our site that citizen/police partnerships are the foundation on which our current and future plans are built. The department's success today and in the future is reliant upon the many partnerships that exist between department members, citizens, businesses, and other governmental agencies.

I invite you to contact us with any comments, questions, or suggestions you might have at beavertonpolice@ci.beaverton.or.us (not to be used for issues requiring immediate response) as you tour this site. I thank you for your partnership, and look forward to working together to maintain a safe and livable city for all to enjoy.
